Review: The Change by Kirsten Miller (Spoiler-Free)
~ Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for an early copy in exchange for an honest review! RELEASE DATE: MAY 3 ~ 3.5 stars! What in the Jeffrey Epstein... I'm really conflicted with my rating for this one because I loved so much of this book, and I think it's going to definitely find a devoted audience. That being said, I think it was a little long for its liking. I didn't find myself truly engaged until the 45-50% mark, and that's too far in to wait in a nearly 500 page

Review: Heartstopper Volume 2 by Alice Oseman
Day 4 of Nick and Charlie living in my head rent free. It's been fun waking up every morning to a new hold on each volume coming through on my library app. I think this volume might be my least favorite though? Idk, it doesn't matter because it was still lovely anyway. I'm so excited for Vol. 3 (even if it's the last one I have left 😩) because I know they go to Paris in it and Jack Edwards said it was his favorite volume. Again I also have to say I prefer the way Oseman wrot

Review: Heartstopper Volume 1 by Alice Oseman
INJECT THIS SERIES INTO MY VEINS. Seriously. This is the second time I've consumed this exact same story in one week because I watched the entire show last Friday. Might be a hot take but I actually enjoy the show more 👀 Nothing against the graphic novels at all—I still really enjoy them!—but I just don't like graphic novels as a medium nearly as much as tv/films. Also I think Alice Oseman made some really good narrative decisions that improved the emotional depth of the sho

Review: Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman
Yes, I'm reading this out of order. Sue me. I'm having a grand ol' time doing it. I watched this entire show in one sitting last Friday, so naturally I was in desperate need of more Nick & Charlie content. I put them all on hold in my library app and Vol. 4 came through first so now we're here. See, there's a method to my madness. I loved seeing all my favorite characters again, and I honestly think my experience was heightened having watched the show first because I could re

Review: Every Summer After by Carley Fortune (Spoiler-Free)
~Thank you so much to Berkley and NetGalley for providing me with an early copy in exchange for an honest review! RELEASE DATE: May 10 ~ 'Not many people meet the person they're meant to be with when they're thirteen. But we did. You know we did.'* OOOOOOOOH I FEEL A STORM COMING WITH THIS ONE. Seriously, I really enjoyed this book, but things get messy. This is essentially The Summer I Turned Pretty but for adults, and I was living for it. It follows two childhood best frien

Review: Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi (Spoiler-Alert)
I mean this was... fine. I really only finished it because it was so short anyway. There's definitely an audience for this kind of book and admittedly, I should have known it wasn't me. It's very sentimental and predictable and leans into the conventions of the magical realism literary genre—but somehow without the interesting prose? Might have been an issue in translation, but the writing was awkward. The audiobook definitely helped and heightened my experience reading, but
