Review: The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand (Spoiler-Free)
Re-read- 2021 Well, well, well, it's three years later and I am still in love with this book. And I may or may not still have yet to read more from this author... I also might have been slightly less in love with Ethan this time around. This book is just so perfect, though I would no longer really call it a romance. It's the story of Holly Chase, a failed Scrooge, and her journey towards embracing life for the better. The plot is tightly written—not a single page is wasted to

Review: Almost Midnight by Rainbow Rowell
'Midnights' - 5 stars I am utterly obsessed with this story. It's the perfect length and told in one of my favorite formats: one night over the course of several years. I love seeing how things have changed over time and what about that is sad or exciting. It also just helps a short story romance be more believable because the characters have already known each other for years (also I'm a sucker for a good friends-to-lovers/years long pining). Another thing I loved about this

Review: 10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston (Spoiler-Free)
This year I've made it my mission to consume as much holiday media as I can leading up to Christmas. This book was a fabulous starting point. Super fluffy, full of family, friendships, and fun—I could not have asked for a more perfect little rom-com. Was the romance all that exciting? No, but it was exactly what you'd expect from a YA hallmark-y type story, so if that's what you're looking for, definitely give this one a try. I really loved the big family elements and also So

Review: The Empress of Salt & Fortune by Nghi Vo (Spoiler-Free)
I think that if I read this again when I was in a better headspace it could be 5 stars. But at the moment, I think a lot of it was a bit too complex for me to comprehend. This story is incredibly unique, in style, structure, plot, world—everything. The writing in this short novella is IMPECCABLE. It just flows off the page. The world too feels like it’s the one I live in despite only having 130 pages to be developed. Nghi Vo is an extraordinary talent. Even though I do think

Review: Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle (Spoiler-Free)
'If I see a red balloon in this house, Wesley Koehler, you're going to be in big trouble. I hate clowns.' 'Balloon?' I hear a loud noise that is inarguably the pop of a balloon. 'Never seen a balloon in my life.' This book had a lot of the charm as the author's first, and I absolutely LOVED the first half of the novel, and the humor throughout. This wasn't quite as great for me as You Deserve Each Other though, and I think that's because once the couple got together it got a

Review: Bound by Firelight by Dana Swift (Spoiler-Free)
~ Thank you to NetGalley and RandomHouse Children's/Delacorte Press for providing me with an early copy in exchange for an honest review! RELEASE DATE: January 18, 2022 ~ 'I will not beg.' His grip slips. 'At least I didn't take away that choice.' This book was really fun. It's super fast-paced, much like the first, and I really loved the new setting in this installment. The book starts out with Adraa's trial going awry, and immediately she is sent to prison. The Dome was suc
