Review: The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand (Spoiler-Free)

Re-read- 2021

Well, well, well, it's three years later and I am still in love with this book. And I may or may not still have yet to read more from this author... I also might have been slightly less in love with Ethan this time around.

This book is just so perfect, though I would no longer really call it a romance. It's the story of Holly Chase, a failed Scrooge, and her journey towards embracing life for the better. The plot is tightly written—not a single page is wasted towards anything unnecessary.

This book and Klaus, the Netflix movie, make me want to write a Christmas story of my own. As of now, I have no substantial ideas, but I love twists on classic holiday tales. I love when they're full of whimsy and just a pinch of dark humor. Okay maybe a little more than a pinch.

This re-read was just as amazing as, maybe even better than, the first time I read this book. And I think a few years down the line I'll give it another revisit. I finally ordered a physical copy and it has a home on my beautiful shelves.

Merry Christmas to me!
