Review: The Empress of Salt & Fortune by Nghi Vo (Spoiler-Free)
I think that if I read this again when I was in a better headspace it could be 5 stars. But at the moment, I think a lot of it was a bit too complex for me to comprehend.
This story is incredibly unique, in style, structure, plot, world—everything. The writing in this short novella is IMPECCABLE. It just flows off the page. The world too feels like it’s the one I live in despite only having 130 pages to be developed. Nghi Vo is an extraordinary talent.
Even though I do think the details of this went over my head, I’m interested in reading the sequel. The lush writing and world truly hooked me.
