Review: The Ones We're Meant to Find by Joan He (Spoiler-Free)
This book was truly not what I was expecting. To be fair, I didn't read much about it going in, but I knew it had to do with climate change, and that was enough to interest me.
What I got was a half sci-fi half survival story, and I enjoyed the survival half of it (Cee's POV). I enjoyed both characters themselves, but I wasn't as personally engaged in Kasey's storyline. It may have been because I read this during finals week, but I found the nuances of her plotline to be a little confusing and convoluted.
This book really reminded me of one of my favorite movies from my childhood, Astro Boy, but I think, unfortunately, that making that connection kind of ruined the plot twist for me.
Ultimately, I think a lot of people will enjoy this book, but something about the time when I read it and me personally not enjoying the storyline of one of the POVs led me to giving a 3-star rating.
I'm excited to pass this book on to someone else though, because I have a feeling many others will love it!
