Review: The Cavern by Alister Hodge (Spoiler-Free)
I wanted to be TERRIFIED. But unfortunately, I was just bored.
I think this premise had so much potential. I appreciate the research that went into the cave diving/spelunking and I enjoyed those aspects, but I just thought there were too many characters for such a short book. And I didn't feel any suspense because we knew straight from the cover alone that we were dealing with a monster. I think if I saw this as a movie I would have been cowering in my seat, but as a book it just didn't thrill me.
(I also did just watch Barbarian right before reading this, so maybe my enjoyment of that hampered my enjoyment of this...)
