Review: Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds (Spoiler-Free)

This is an incredibly quick read, and one that was fairly enjoyable. I was impressed by the writing and play with double meaning riddled throughout the verse. However, while the quality of the writing was good, the use of verse did cause me to feel disconnected from the characters. This story moves incredibly quickly and there is almost no time to stop and think about what is going on. There is no time to reflect until you turn the final page. I think that the topic of this book is something very important to discuss and I liked the way that it handled it, but I could have felt a bit more of a connection if it had been written with prose.
